What is the OQR Program?

The Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting (OQR) Program is a quality reporting initiative developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). It aims to promote high-quality care for patients receiving services in hospital outpatient settings. Hospitals are required to report specific quality measures to CMS, which are then used for public reporting and payment determination. The program ensures consistency and comparability across different healthcare settings and includes measures such as imaging efficiency and hospital visits after outpatient surgery. Hospitals that do not meet the reporting requirements may face penalties, such as a reduction in their annual payment update.
